Who treats Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) in Visakhapatnam?

What is Acute Kidney Injury (AKI)?

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a sudden fall in kidney function over hours to days. Creatinine rises and urine output may fall. Common causes in our region include severe dehydration from vomiting or diarrhoea, dengue, malaria, leptospirosis and other infections, painkillers, some antibiotics, contrast dye for scans, snake bite and blockage of urine flow.

Many patients recover fully if the cause is treated early. Some need temporary dialysis. After AKI, kidney function should be checked for months because some people develop long-term kidney disease.
